12 Days Itinerary: Wildlife & Primate Circuit

Day 1: Arrival in Kampala/Entebbe

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Our representative meets you, transfers you to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Pick up your 4×4 rental car (or meet your driver-guide) and briefing on safari car operation, safety, and route. Overnight in Kampala/Entebbe.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Depart early and drive north-west to Murchison Falls National Park. En-route stop-over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. Continue to Murchison Falls, settle into your lodge. Enjoy the sunset over the savannah and Nile.

Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Safari at Murchison Falls

Early morning game drive in Murchison Falls: look for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions and many bird species. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile river to the base of the falls (often called the “Devil’s Cauldron”) where the water plunges dramatically. A highlight of wildlife safari Uganda.

Day 4: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart for western Uganda to Kibale Forest National Park – prime chimpanzee habitat and dense rainforest. Scenic drive through rolling hills and villages. Overnight near Kibale.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale

Rise early for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest. This park contains over 13 primate species and offers very high chance of chimp sightings. In the afternoon you may take the Bigodi Wetland nature walk, bird-watching, local community interaction.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the scenic crater lakes region and Rwenzori mountain views. Arrive at Queen Elizabeth NP, check in and rest. In the afternoon perhaps a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel – excellent for wildlife & birding.

Day 7: Game Drive & Ishasha Sector (Tree-Climbing Lions)

Morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP: look out for elephants, buffalo, kob, lions. Then head to the Ishasha sector in the southern park, known for its rare tree-climbing lions. An unforgettable Uganda safari experience.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Drive into the misty hills toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. Rest and prepare for gorilla trekking the next day. Overnight in a forest-edge lodge.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

The highlight of your Uganda safari: gorilla trekking. Meet the park rangers, trek through forest to find a habituated mountain gorilla family. Spend up to one hour observing them in their natural habitat. This is truly bucket-list travel. Afternoon at leisure or optional community visit.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, head out to Lake Mburo National Park – smaller but rich in wildlife and different from the larger savannah parks. Enjoy game drive, boat ride on the lake with hippos and crocodiles. Overnight near Lake Mburo.

Day 11: Game Drive & Departure Toward Kampala

Start with an early game drive around Lake Mburo, then begin return drive toward Kampala/Entebbe. Enjoy changing scenery, local culture, towns and countryside. Overnight in Kampala or transfer to Entebbe.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast, return your vehicle or transfer to airport (Entebbe International Airport) for your onward flight. End of your 12-day wildlife & primate circuit in Uganda.
